UV-C is the most energetic part of ultraviolet light. The sun emits it, but the ozone layer keeps almost all of it away from the earth. CLAIR produces it with OSRAM lamps at 254 nm, safely enclosed inside the unit.

Wavelength in nanometres. The shorter the wave, the more energy the light carries.
01
Light hits the germ
Inside the chamber, UV-C light penetrates viruses, bacteria and fungal spores carried past by the air.
02
The DNA absorbs it
Genetic material absorbs light around 254 nm particularly strongly. This destroys its structure.
03
No reproduction
The germ is inactivated and can no longer reproduce. Pathogens cannot develop resistance to this effect.

What happens inside CLAIR.
01
Intake
Four fans at the top of the unit draw room air in through the honeycomb grille at the bottom. PRO and AIR are rated at 600 m³ per hour, and the fan speed is adjustable.
02
Light trap
The air flows through zigzag louvres. Air passes through, UV light does not get out. The lamps are never visible from outside.
03
Irradiation
In the closed chamber, five OSRAM UV-C lamps irradiate the air at 254 nm. The radiation hits the DNA of viruses, germs and bacteria.
04
Outflow
Through the second light trap and the fans, the air leaves the unit at the top and returns to the room.

Against viruses, bacteria and fungi.
UV-C light at 254 nm destroys the genetic material of microorganisms. All bacteria and viruses tested so far respond to it. How much light is needed depends on the pathogen.
99.4%
fewer active viruses after a single pass through the unit (model virus MS2, 2.2 log steps, flow-optimised test set-up)
>85%
fewer germs (fungi and bacteria) in the room air after one hour of operation, test room 36.5 m³
Measured on CLAIR by an independent test laboratory in Germany, 2022.
How much UV-C a pathogen needs
Dose for 99.9 % inactivation in mJ/cm². The further left, the easier it is to render a pathogen harmless with UV-C.

Same technology, three designs. What matters is the size of the room and where the unit should stand or hang.

Lamp change once a year in continuous operation, clean twice a year, no filter
All models: 254 nm, ozone-free, lamp life 9,000 h, 220–240 V, powder-coated sheet steel housing, Made in EU.
Which model suits your room?
ECO2.9× per hour
PRO5.8× per hour
AIR5.8× per hour
How often the entire room air passes through the unit per hour at the highest fan speed: airflow divided by room volume.
Turn it. Look inside.
Drag with your mouse or finger to see the CLAIR PRO from every side. «Inside» makes the housing transparent: the four fans at the top, the two light traps, the five OSRAM UV-C lamps in between and the path of the air from bottom to top.
Drag to rotate
Upkeep that costs next to nothing.
0filters. Nothing to buy, nothing to change, no filter waste.
1×lamp change a year in continuous operation, all lamps at once.
2×cleanings a year: wipe down and vacuum inside.
0.18kWh of electricity per hour with the ECO. No consumables except the lamps.
Frequently asked questions.
Is UV-C dangerous when people are in the room?
No. The UV-C light only acts inside the closed unit. Light traps made of multi-bend louvres let air through but no light out. That is why CLAIR runs in normal operation while people are in the room.
Does it produce ozone?
No. The OSRAM lamps operate at 254 nm and are ozone-free.
Do I have to change filters?
No. CLAIR works without filters. There is nothing that clogs, has to be bought or disposed of as filter waste.
How often are the lamps changed?
Once a year in round-the-clock operation, at the latest after 9,000 operating hours, always all lamps at once. On PRO and AIR the ClairPro app shows the remaining lamp life.
Can the airflow be adjusted?
Yes. PRO and AIR are rated at 600 m³ per hour and have three fan speeds that you select in the ClairPro app. The ECO is rated at 300 m³ per hour and has two speeds on the illuminated button. The lamps never run without airflow.
How loud is CLAIR?
The ECO runs at 34 to 40 dB, PRO and AIR at 34 to 44 dB, depending on the fan speed.
What does it cost to run?
Mainly electricity: the ECO uses 0.18 kWh per hour, the PRO 0.30 kWh and the AIR 0.36 kWh. Plus new lamps once a year in continuous operation. There are no filter costs.
How is CLAIR installed?
ECO and PRO stand on castors and are simply plugged in. The AIR hangs on cables from the ceiling or on the wall.
Has its effectiveness been tested?
Yes. In 2022 an independent test laboratory in Germany measured on CLAIR: 99.4 % fewer active model viruses after one pass and over 85 % fewer germs in the room air after one hour.
